The ground is part of the system

A drainage field distributes treated wastewater into suitable ground. Its design must take account of soil conditions, available space, the expected flow and the selected treatment system.

It is different from a rainwater soakaway. A foul-water system needs its own assessment and suitable arrangements.

Coordinate the pipework, levels and excavation with the tank or treatment plant installation.

New fields and replacement drainage

Planning the discharge route

The right installation starts with the site. In England, the General Binding Rules depend on the discharge route and when the discharge began. If the relevant rules cannot be met, an environmental permit may be needed.

Can a drainage field go anywhere in the garden?

No. Suitability depends on the ground, space and applicable requirements. The position must be assessed as part of the design.

Can you quote without seeing the site?

We can discuss the project from your description and photographs, but the final scope may require a site assessment and ground testing.
